Miss Ginny's Diary July 10th 2010

Meow to you out there. Well it is hot hot hot here in the desert south west of the USA. We all have our own little fans plus the air conditioning which is, as HM says, belching! In this high heat it is important to drink a lot and we have our own ice bowls and cool water bowls. HM likes to put out water bowls for outside creatures so they can take a drink or in some of the bowls, they take a swim, especially the little birds. When we were living our own place, HM likes to put on the outside sprinkler and the little birds used to fly through the water holding their wings up to get a little water on their feathers and then they would sit in the trees preening and cleaning their feathers and chirping away. I would sit and talk to them through the windows. We have been behaving a bit better although yesterday both ShooShoo and I got told off by HM for what she called being too aggressive in our play. I admit we ended up yelling at each other. It was HD’s day off and HM likes a quiet household for him. He works hard and his work has been particularly busy. Grandma Carrie (GC) is coming up another birthday – she will be about 19 years which is 171 human years. That is really old and HM says to stop playing with her tail, and to leave out aggressive play to areas of the house where she is sleeping which is mostly what she does all day. She is worrying HM because she is thin although she eats a lot and probably eats more than I do. Her teeth are good – she has lost one of her front fangs and her dark gray coat is shiny. She is always cleaning and when she had kittens about 15 years ago or so HM thinks, she apparently kept them really well and was a strict mum. We were supposed to have left the desert south west and go north to the northern prairies of Dakota but HD’s transfer is looking more like we will be going west to the state of California. HM’s not sure about this but she says it will be cooler near the coast. It all depends on HD’s bosses. I like being near the ocean. We used to live in the Pacific Islands and there were lots of fish to eat and lots of seabirds to meow at.

Here is a pic of GC to honor her. She really is a cool old lady cat and we were both walking over some stuff that HM was sorting out. Take care out there and be well and HM says God Bless you all.

Meow from me, Miss Ginny.

Miss Ginny's Diary June 22nd 2010

Meow to you from me, Miss Ginny. Well it has been a silly week and I really don’t know why. We were scrapping a lot and I fought with my sister ShooShoo, my cat mum Lapper bopped me on the head because I went too close to her when she was sleeping and great aunt Daisy did the same thing because I surprised her by jumping up on the chair she was on – well I didn’t see her. HM doesn’t like the hissin’ and spittin’ as she calls it, so she got mad. Well today it is a little better. HM says that if we can’t behave ourselves during the week, on Sunday we just have to behave, especially on a Sunday afternoon. In our home Sunday afternoons belong to you, in other words, you can do as you wish, providing you behave and you cant tell anyone else what to do.

From time to time, I have put some pictures in of some of us. Lately, HM & HD have been renewing their passports. HM says that in Europe and England you can get passports for your pets if you are traveling with them. I had the idea to do ‘cat’ passport photos. HM said ‘oh God help us trying to get you all photographed for passports’ but when we all looked at our family pictures, we found some pretty cool photos. So here then are the passport photos for the four-legged members of the family. All of these pictures have been taken this year:

From eldest to youngest:

Carrie (aka Grandma or GC)

(born 1992)

Daisy-Mae (aka Miss Daisy, GAD=Great Aunt Daisy)

(born 2002)

Lapper (aka Cap-A-Lap – my cat mum)

(born 2004)

ShooShoo (my sister)

(born October 18, 2005)

Miss Ginny (aka Virginia-Lee)
(born October 18, 2005)

So here we all are. Naughty, loud sometimes but we are a happy family. HM & HD love us despite all our quirks (what is a quirk?) – HM says it is an idiosyncrasy belonging to a particular person. Oh heck, I don’t know these words.

Meow to you until next time, from me, Miss Ginny.

Miss Ginny's Diary June 13th 2010

Meow to you out there from me, Miss Ginny. Well things are a little crazy here and HM says that at the moment, I am the No.1 crazy!! I don’t think so but I do like to go on a run or two. HM asked me earlier today why I do the following:

Go nuts when I finish using my toilet (dirt) box and run around the room like a whirling wind, knocking things over.

Like to creep up on my sister and bite her ears.

Leap on to HM’s shoulders from the floor when she is not expecting me to.

Get in the bathtub and howl like a coyote.

Follow her to the bathroom when she goes there to use it and if she doesn’t let me in, do I have to scratch the outside of the door!

Ask HD for a pick up and a cuddle just as he sits down to do his writing and research - well the answer to this is that he is nice and warm and has a nice big chest to rest on.

Wack my cat mother, Lapper, on the head nearly every time I pass her – well the answer to this is that she pecks at me every time she passes me. HM says that two wrongs don’t make a right – as if I understand this!!

Anyhow right now I am dictating to HM as she types for me and things are quiet and we are all waiting for HD to come home from his day job. Grandma Carrie has just come on the bed. She is getting quite frail and HM is worried about her. She eats well though and goes to the bathroom just fine. Her coat is still very shiny and she keeps herself clean. Did I tell you that she is the equivalent of 162 human years? She has kept her beautiful dark grey fur and her beautiful green eyes. She doesn’t bother me and I don’t really bother her. We both cuddle up with HM at night and share food, especially the tuna bits which we both like very much. HM doesn’t give us too much tuna – she shares it with us when she opens a can for a salad for her and HD. She and all of us are so looking forward to the day when HM can go out and fish and bring us home some nice white fish to eat. Our departure from where we are, had to be delayed. Never mind, HM says that we will go just as soon as we can. HM just looked at the clock and she says that HD will be home in about 20 minutes. I hope he brings home cat treats – he probably will. HD has a day off tomorrow so that is just cool.

HM here – Miss Ginny has fallen asleep – she is a funny little cat. I do so love having her around and she is the best of company except when she knocks everything over on one of those wild chasing runs of hers but I forgive her that too. We just pick everything up and tell her she is crazy. You know, she answers you back and is very talkative – I often think it would be great to be able to understand “cat” but perhaps it might be better if we didn’t!! What she says, we might not like to hear. She is a true BFF.

Take care out there in this big wide world of ours. Meow to you from Miss Ginny and have a nice day from me, HM.

Miss Ginny's Diary May 28th 2010

Meow to you from me, Miss Ginny. Well it has been a quiet time lately. I have been spending most of my time following HM around and she and I have long talks. I can’t speak English of course and she can’t speak in meow! However we understand each other. HM says that too many people in this world don’t have enough understanding of other folk and their culture. I just meow back and she says okay! She (HM) changed our tiny kitchen around and now I have more room on the small bench. She says I shouldn’t be up there but I don’t always take notice. HM and particularly HD say I am spoilt. My sister ShooShoo and I are still having problems. She has gone to play with GAD these days. They roll and fight and don’t let me join in, so that is why I follow HM about. HM says we are all here as a family and no one is allowed to be nasty with each other. Grandma Carrie and I get along though GC sleeps most of the day and gets up to eat and goes back to bed. HM is a fairly quiet person and so apart from any outside noise and the sound of the television, it is quiet in our home. I like to play in cardboard cartons and HD often brings them home from his day work and that is fun – GAD gets inside the bigger ones and chases her tail like crazy. She is a really big cat and often goes so fast that the carton falls over. My sister got some dust up her nose this morning and she got lots of sneezes. HM got her a drink and gave her face a wash. She didn’t like that. She meowed at HM and HM said that she had to put up with the wash for just a few seconds. HD brought us home some nice grass to eat. This is special cat grass that comes in a special packet and you grow it at home and in about a week or so it sprouts up from the seeds and it is great. He spoils us as he is always bringing home treats. HM is talking to ShooShoo who has just woken up and is yawning and looking around the room for mischief to get into. HM picked us both up together and gave us a long talking to about being nice. I wriggled away and my sister did to. HM said that she has given up for the day trying to make us be civilized. I like to play with HM’s balls of wool and she gives chase when I run away with them. The wool is nice and soft moves easy and she said that she would make me some special balls of wool of my own if I would just leave hers alone. So this is a good deal don’t you think? Some little birds (sparrows) landed outside our windows on the railing and I talked and talked to them and I think they just laughed at me but GAD came to the window and nattered at them and they flew away. GAD must look huge to them and they got a little scared. I am a small cat and will never be big. The sparrows wait for HM to give them a few breadcrumbs. We don’t get many birds where we are and HM misses her old home where we had lots of birds. When we finally move away from where we are I am sure that HM will find a place where there are more birds. She used to have an aviary (a big bird house) with her mom at another home and it had lots of birds in it. Well there is not much going on here and so I will say meow to you all until the next time. Be good and be happy.

Many meows to you from me, Miss Ginny.

Miss Ginny's Diary May 11th 2010

Meow to you, it’s me, Miss Ginny. It is night and the wind is blowing and making a horrible noise outside. Everything is creaking and my sister ShooShoo is under the big bed because she doesn’t like the noise of the wind. I don’t much like it either. HD has just called in to say he is leaving work and HM said that he should wear his hat because the wind is very cold. It is supposed to be warm at this time of year in the desert but the weather has been very strange. HD and I have not agreed on things this past week. He says I am too noisy and I wake him up. Well I like to wander around at night and my sister likes to play and so I went and had a cuddle with HD and he said I was a charmer and he has said that I am also like a royal princess. He likes me and that is why I get away with being a bit naughty. He says that HM spoilt me when I was very young, because I was so small and fragile. I don’t really know what that means but I know I went to the animal doctor a few times and he came to the decision that I was always going to be a very small cat. I was the 6th born in my cat mum’s litter and was given extra food. My cat mum had 6 girl kittens and the animal doctor was very surprised that there were no boy kittens born. We all lived and apart from ShooShoo and me, my sisters all live on farms in the southern hemisphere and are all doing very well. HM hopes that we may all live once again, in the countryside as it is, she feels, a better life and more peaceful. We go where HD’s work takes us. Today HM poached some chicken for lunch and we got some and it was quite nice. I like fish best and kitty bics. There is a helicopter flying about and HM just said that she would not like to be up there in this strong wind. It would be a very rough flight. We get police helicopters over us quite a lot and we also get planes from the airbase which is not too far away. HM is sending you this picture to look at. She loves all animals and this is from a lady called Julie Scardina who works with animals and often appears on television here in the United States. It is very cute and HM hopes you like it. Just click on to it with your computer. http://twitpic.com/1mt76g

Well I am going now and I will meow with you again soon. If you would like to send me your cat pictures you can send them to me care of House Abukoff.

Here is a picture of my sister ShooShoo taken last Christmas while she was sleeping. She often lies on her back.

Meow to everyone. Be safe. Love from me, Miss Ginny.

Miss Ginny's Diary May 2nd 2010

Meow to you from me, Miss Ginny. HM is back doing her writing and she seems better. She got really upset about a shooting that took place opposite where we live and the weather here in the desert southwest is getting hot which she doesn’t like and our departure from here is delayed. However I am trying to be good and help and follow her everywhere – I think I told you that she calls me her kitchen supervisor. I love to go into the kitchen because if she is cooking chicken and bacon she just might give me a little bit for myself. My sister ShooShoo usually comes in if she can see me getting treats. We have got some new kitty grass to eat. HD found it in the supermarket and you grow it yourself from a kitset and it is really good. My sister is trying to keep it for herself but HM is on to her and that is good. We are still not really talking to each other and HM told us both that we should solve our issues as having a sister is a good thing. I got into trouble with HD yesterday as the door blew open when HM was out on the balcony shaking our blankets and I took off and ran out onto the balcony and had a great lark about (an English expression). HD ran after me and gave me a major talking to. Grandma Carrie goes outside under supervision. HM said I knew better and that she had spoken to me about the vulture birds that live in the neighborhood. They are big birds who go hunting small animals for food and if I did it again, then I would be out of treats for some time. Oh well, I guess I was in trouble for a while – what I didn’t like though, was my bossy sister who, after HD had spoken to me, came up and meowed quite loudly. She is not my boss but she likes to think so. It is a nice Sunday afternoon today and there is a desert wind blowing. We had some shredded chicken today for lunch and that was nice. Grandma Carrie likes to eat treats. She may be old (162 human years) but she can eat a lot. I can see ShooShoo eating the grass and HM has just told her to let some of us have a go at it. My sister always has something to say and she told HM a few meows about something and HM told her to go and have an afternoon sleep. HM will probably have a bit of a kip as she calls it, in a little while and I will curl up with her just like I do at night. We are good friends and HM and I understand each other. HD has gone to work and I will talk to him on the phone when he rings in during his shift. I meow all the days news to him and he thinks I am very sweet but quite mad sometimes. I know what a phone is for and I know it is him on the other end of the phone. I am going now and I will chat to you soon and in the meantime, I send many meows to you.
Bye from me, Miss Ginny.

Miss Ginny's Diary April 20th 2010

Hello there and it has been a couple of weeks since HM and I have written my diary. Things have been a little crazy here. My sister ShooShoo and I have been fighting a bit and now we don’t talk. I don’t like being woken up with noise and I don’t like her sniffing at me when I am asleep. Right now it is early evening and HM said she would write my diary for me if I wanted. Grandma Carrie has joined us. She looks frail but she is also able to jump about on the boxes and stacker bins that HM is trying to sort out. HM was hoping to leave before it gets to hot in the desert south west and it is starting to do this. HM thought she would get us a couple of new traveling cages – that will be nice as long as she puts my favorite blankie in them. The weather is ok now where we are going and it is not to cold for us to travel. There are sirens about tonight and they are noisy and ShooShoo hisses at them when they pass. She has also taken to hissing at our neighbor and he is a quiet man who just grins at her. She and HM got into it about this. So my sister hissed at HM and so HM hissed back. It looked a bit odd that a human hissed a cat. I think HD thinks we are quite crazy. He may be right?! HM has been busy and a little depressed. She has been tired and as she said watching to much late night TV. The household has got a sewing machine and HM was happy about this. It is interesting to watch it. I didn’t like the noise at first. HM said it is old but in good working order and she is going to make us some little traveling coats out of some old blankies. I did ask for a pink one way back but I don’t think it will get this color because HM does not want to cut up the one pink-colored blankie that we have. HM likes to cook and we have had some nice chicken lately. I like fish and am waiting till we get to our new home and HM and HD go fishing and bring us back some yummy food. HM just asked me why I am not playing much with my sister. Well she has gone over to playing mostly with GAD and I like to hang around with HM in the kitchen. She put a pic of me in her cooking column this past week. If you want to have a look at it you can go to House Abukoff’s blog site and check out the latest cooking column. It is windy here tonight and going to be cold tomorrow. The weather is changing all the time. It was very hot last weekend and now we have another storm coming in. Where we are going has storms of all kinds and HM said they will have to get a bed on legs so that we can run under it if we get a little nervous. HD brought us home some Scooby snacks from the supermarket recently. I love them so much they are so yummy. HM says we can’t live on them all the time. We have to have a balanced diet whatever that means.

This is HM now – Ginny just went chasing a plastic bottle top into the bathroom. Here is a pic of her that was taken recently. She was in the middle of cleaning her paws. She is my great pride and joy. She may be a little prissy but she really is a sweetheart. Take care out there folks. Bye :)

Miss Ginny's Diary April 4th 2010

Meow to you from me, Miss Ginny. It is a nice Saturday evening and most of us are asleep. HM is doing my writing for me and watching a movie as well. I am not sure how she does it but she says that women can multi-task very well. I don’t know what this means. My sister ShooShoo and I are still not getting on very well. She prefers to play with GAD (Great Aunt Daisy) these days and that’s fine because I have had a few games with my cat mother, Lapper. No one plays with Lapper very much and we had a great chasing game today. The wind is making a howling noise outside the window. HM says it sounds like a coyote. I know what coyote dogs look like. We had a big scare a few days ago. HM was outside on the balcony with Grandma Carrie as she likes to go out and roll around for a while. HM could see something flying down the street towards them and it turned out to be a huge black vulture. As the vulture flew past them at rooftop level, it turned and looked at Grandma Carrie and stopped its flight and settled on power lines and looked down at both of them. HM picked up GC and put her inside straight away and then went out and had loud words at the vulture. We have seen a few vultures lately which are unusual in the town. HM says that each animal, bird and fish has its place in nature but vultures are not something she wants around her and GC. GC is doing quite well right now – she gave us all another scare recently as she has what HM calls one of her ‘frail days’. She can get around okay and climbs around inside very well. I like to leap and jump and HD says that I will never be a fat cat because I am always on the move when I am awake. HM says I could do with a bit more fat around me as she thinks I am to thin. I have got a nice cane laundry basked to sleep in with my special blankie. HD says I am spoilt. Sometimes HM calls me No. 6 as I was the last born of Lapper’s 6 kittens. HM often talks about the kittens that we left behind when we returned to America. HD reminds her that our animal doctor there found really good farm homes for them. We pray for them frequently and hope that they may remember us in their thoughts. My sister is stretched out on a chair with her head out flat in front and all her legs tucked in and her tail as well. It looks a bit strange but at least she is quiet as HM just said. During last week our vacuum cleaner decided to cease working as HM put it. She said we did not need the expense of a new one right now and so we got one at an auction. HD says it looks like something out of Star Trek. I don’t like the noise of these cleaners; in fact, I don’t like noise at all. When HD and HM are laughing at something, I always make a point of going across and telling them about it. I usually go eyeball to eyeball with HD and meow loudly at HM. She says I am prissy but cute. Grandma has joined us here on the big bed. She is cleaning all her paws and picking at her claws. HM cant stand the noise of the claw cleaning. She says it sounds like a fingernail on a blackboard.

The picture this week is my sister ShooShoo, hanging down over one of the stacker bins watching HM. She does sit in strange ways as I said earlier. Sometimes we have our differences but my sister is my best friend and I am happy that she is with me.

Take care and be well and many meows to you. Bye for now from me, Miss Ginny.

Miss Ginny's Diary March 28th 2010

Meow to you. It’s me, Miss Ginny talking to you on a nice Saturday that is not to hot and a light wind is blowing and keeping things cool. If it would stay like this through the summer then HM would love it. She has been cross with us this week because my sister ShooShoo and I have had a few arguments. HM said yesterday that we had to cut the cr--! Now she doesn’t say that very often. Even HD (who was home from work yesterday) said that we were ‘a bit much’. I think that ShooShoo is trying to be the big boss. She is always talking and stalking all of us lately. HD has been calling her the BBS which is short for Big Boss ShooShoo. She has even tried to claim my special space which is on top of the microwave (I am not allowed on it when it is going) and I am fighting back. My sister and I had words yesterday and she caught hold of my ear in her mouth and I cried out and that brought HM and HD into it and ShooShoo was sent under the big bed by HD to cool off. ShooShoo has always played a lot and she plays hard as HM says. Even when she was a tiny tiny kitten, she raced everywhere at top speed. Even GAD has got into the fracas and she chased after ShooShoo and flattened her on the carpet cover sheets. HD went to my sister’s rescue and let her up. GAD is very big and if you are flattened by her then you truly stay flattened. Today all seems quiet as HM just said a few minutes ago. Yesterday we had the off-road racing cars next door to us and HM and HD went and had a look at them. They were very noisy. They come to the desert for their big racing championships and they had a 400 mile race to contest today. Fortunately for us the actual race will be at a place that is far away from us out in the desert. I don’t like noise. I don’t even like people laughing. I like my peace and quiet. HM has been cleaning and packing a few things. I like to follow her around and get into closets and boxes and watch her sorting out what she is keeping and throwing out. We found a whole lot of old cat toys and that was fun. I don’t play with toys a lot. I like to play with HM’s pens. My sister and my cat mom play a lot with the toys. GAD likes plastic bottle tops from the water bottles. She picks them up and takes them into the bath and makes a lot of noise playing with them. GAD is a funny cat. She sits quite quietly and then suddenly, she will go on a bender as HM calls it. She talks a lot to HM when she is cooking in the kitchen or doing the laundry. GAD’s favorite place is the toilet seat. She spends hours there. This is a picture of her on the toilet seat, talking to HM. There are a lot of helicopters overhead today – they are mostly tourist flights to and from the Grand Canyon. We have an airbase not too far from us and sometimes we get the fighter planes overhead to. Oh my, here comes ShooShoo talking like crazy. She is usually asleep in the early afternoon. Everyone else is either asleep or cleaning before going to sleep. I will go and have a nap soon as soon as I have finished telling HM what to write in my diary. HM has put lots of nice food out for us today. We are spoilt. HM just said, ‘yes you are’. She just asked me to finish soon as she wants to have a nap. So I will get along to my pre-nap cleaning and talk to you again soon. Bye for now.

Meow to you from me, Miss Ginny.

Miss Ginny's Diary March 21st 2010

Meow to you from me, Miss Ginny. It is a great day here, nice and sunny. Most of the family is asleep except for HM who is writing and HD who has gone to work. We were up early this morning playing chasing. GAD decided it was all on at about 4.30am. She had been to the dirt box and came out into the main room looking for someone to play with and so ShooShoo decided to join her and I hung over the end of the bed watching them play under and over the chairs. The trouble was that they woke HM and she said what are y’all doing at this hour? GAD and ShooShoo didn’t take any notice of her because they were rolling and biting each other’s ears. ShooShoo plays hard and leaps high and comes down on GAD. GAD doesn’t care because she is a very big cat and doesn’t feel it. She taught us to play because my cat mom Lapper, looked after us but she doesn’t really play that much. She is really HD’s cat and generally goes to sleep once he goes to work and keeps to herself for the most part, until he comes home. We had fish for breakfast and it was nice. HD and HM had tuna for lunch and we got some of that to and that was also nice. We have cat biscuits out all the time so day and night we can eat if we want to. There is a lot of water around for us and HM got an ice bowl out last week as the weather here in the desert southwest is getting warmer and she always has an ice cube bowl out all through the summer months. We should have moved by now but we are delayed. HM is sad about this but as she said, the delay gives her time to pack without getting rushed about it. We have our own cages and each one has a water bowl attached to it. We have our own blankies and I share a cage with ShooShoo. We are small cats and this is how the airline transported us when we flew in from overseas. All the others have their own cages. Except for GAD, everyone has now woken up. Lapper is in the window watching the police cars who have stopped someone for whatever reason and they are searching this man and searching through some plants in the garden of the apartments opposite us. HM says it is just like the television and she doesn’t like all these goings on outside her window. This is the third time this morning that we have had the police on our block. We live in the downtown area of a city and it is just one of those crazy mornings. Oh dear, Grandma Carrie just threw up – a furball. She doesn’t do this very often but as I just said, it is just one of those crazy mornings. She is okay and HM has seen to her needs. HM just said that she is going to have a nap. She is too tired to do her writing right now. Oh dear – there has been a big crash on the NASCAR – HM likes the car racing. That kind of woke her up. Wow – there is one car on top of another car and one of the cars is on fire. Golly me – look at that – was HM’s comment. Well I am going to go and get a drink and I will talk to you again soon.

The photo this week is one HM took of me recently. There are some new photos to go on to the computer and as soon as he gets home, HD will put them on and then I can show you some fun ones of GAD. Meow to you, from me, Miss Ginny.

Miss Ginny's Diary March 14th 2010

Meow to you, its me Miss Ginny. It is a nice Saturday morning here in the desert south west. Spring is about to arrive and HM is concerned that we are still here with the very hot summer sun just around the corner. HD says not to worry as we are well likely to be living in a new home before the very hot weather comes upon us. It is quiet here at the moment, thank goodness. We all had bad sleeps last night as the local population was very noisy in the downtown area of the city where we live. Someone ran past our apartment at 3.25am and it shook the building and we all woke up and my sister ShooShoo woke up and growled like crazy. It was not good for HD to wake up at that hour as he has a long working day on a Saturday. I am spending my day with HM as she has to re-sort the packing she has already done. With the warmer weather coming, the spring/summer clothes have to be brought out to air and wash. HM is fussy with her cleaning and laundry. I woke HM up in the night as the police and the police helicopter were chasing some people up and down our street and they had blocked off the local roads and their lights were scary. HM is very good to wake up as she usually just says “what’s up Ginny” and I tell her big stories. She just said that she may fall asleep over the laptop and I was to wake her. She has 3 columns to write today, including mine. We all had some juicy white meat to eat this morning because HD had brought some home from his work and it was such a treat. Even GAD and my cat mom Lapper, stopped fighting long enough to eat peacefully. I don’t think that GAD and Lapper mean to snap at each other it is just that GAD has known us since we were born and when we were baby kittens she used to come and spend hours with us and she still plays with us and I think my cat mom gets a little jealous. Well this is the conclusion that HM and I came to. HM and I are looking at the television and we often look at the Create Channel and a very nice man called Rick Steves is taking us around Ireland in honor of St Patrick’s Day on the 17th March. HM is of Irish heritage and she just said that it would be nice for us to live there. No snakes and green fields and plenty of nice fish to eat. We have family living in Ireland – HD’s sister Lois and her family live in Dublin and we have a cat cousin there to, her name is Callie. I am sitting on top of the refrigerator watching the police on their horses go up the street. HM says that she must get a picture of them before we leave here. They look wonderful and very peaceful walking amongst the traffic. We have police on bicycles here too. They often come past our apartment. HM gets a little worried sometimes when the police are everywhere but HD says that it is better to see them about than not. I am sitting right by the laptop watching HM do my typing. I am brushing her arm with my tail and she says that I am cute and one of her BFF’s. HM was the first person I saw when I opened my eyes enough to understand things about me. I was born alongside her bed pillow and she says that I was the size of her thumb with little sticks for legs and she knew I was going to be a calico cat very early on. I am the third calico cat she has owned. The others were Fifi and Samantha who have both gone to spend time with God (or as HM says – the big G). Well I have to go as HM is taking a break from the work on the laptop. I will talk to you again soon.

Love and many meows to you from me, Miss Ginny.

P.S. This is me, in my favorite blankie.

Miss Ginny's Diary March 7th 2010

Meow to you and I hope you are all okay. I have been sitting in the window watching a lot of strange people down in the street. HM is better and although she is tired she is up and about and writing and studying. She told me that she thought I should eat more than I do and she asked me if I was feeling okay. I am fine – I have never eaten a lot and I like to eat in the night when everyone is asleep and it is peaceful. Sometimes, my sister ShooShoo hears me and she gets up and comes to eat too. HM has several dishes of cat biscuits around the apartment for us and lots of water which is something you have to have if you eat cat biscuits. My sister has gone to sleep (it is the afternoon) on top of the shoes. It cannot be very comfortable but I guess she is okay. Grandma Carrie is trying to get HM to get the afternoon soft food meal. I think she will be successful in this. HM and Grandma Carrie have been together for so long that they understand each other well and know just how far they can go in annoying each other. Well HM says that moving from the desert southwest will likely be delayed and that we have to put up with where we are for a little while longer. If HD can get the transfer to Los Angeles and a better job then I guess that is where we will go. It is not too far away from where we are now. As long as HM doesn’t forget to pack all my toys then I am not worried about anything. I like to play chasing with bits of squashed paper. I chase them all over the tiled floor in the bathroom. My sister does the same thing. We got into trouble in the early hours of the morning today. It was about 2.15am and we got into a great game and a run and we just forgot ourselves and she chased me up and over the big bed and we woke up HD and HM and upset the laundry basket and it spilt over on top of my cat mother, Lapper and oh my. Well we went to bed very quickly after that. I like to sleep at the back of HD’s legs. I think my sister will be in big trouble if she does it again – she does this quite often. The worst one to wake up is Grandma Carrie because she sure does hiss up a storm. Talking of Grandma Carrie, her snoring is really loud at the moment. HM says she snores as loud as HD if he is lying on his back. GAD is talking a lot in her sleep too. Great Aunt Daisy has often done this. HM says that she is the only cat she has ever had that has done this. GAD is the coolest cat. She just goes along at her own pace and listens to HD and HM but does her own thing. She loves HD and likes to cuddle in bed with him. Grandma Carrie has given up trying to get her food and has turned her back on HM. There is an ambulance up the street. We often hear them and I don’t like their noise and ShooShoo hates the fire engines when they go past. We are near an intersection and they always put their sirens on really loud to warn people to keep out of the way so they can get to where they are going quickly. My sister runs under the big bed when she hears them coming. Oh well, maybe in our new home we won’t hear them so much.
Here is this week’s picture. It is my cat mum Lapper. She is pretty and loves to sleep on her back. HD and HM found her running around the streets when she was quite small. She had six babies and my sister and I are lucky to have her with us. She still gives us a lick or two even though we are now grown cats.

Meow to you and if you are able, adopt a cat from a shelter or the SPCA in your area. We cats, aim to please! Bye for now, Miss Ginny.

Miss Ginny's Diary March 1st 2010

Meow to you all – it seems a long time since I talked to you. We have had a few family hiccups as HM likes to say. My human mum got sick. HD had not been well with a virus bug that was going around the valley and when everyone was well, they went and had their H1N1 flu shots and within a week HM had come down with a very bad cold that sent her to bed for over a week. This is so unusual for her as she rarely gets sick and as she told a friend, she had not had a cold for 12 years. Everybody is better now and so HM can type for me. We have all behaved ourselves recently except I guess, for a couple of fights I had with my sister ShooShoo. I like to sit on top of the microwave and have a kip or two (a short sleep) as it is in a good position to see what is going on around the apartment. My sister likes to go there to and she keeps on trying to knock me off the microwave so we do battle. However, HM does not like fighting of any kind and we have gotten ourselves into a little trouble. When HM was in bed with her cold we all piled in and kept her company and she wondered what part of the bed she could have and when HD came home we all had to move around the big bed. It was kind of fun but you have to feel sorry for HD because HM says he is like a big hot water bottle and we all like to pile in next to him cause it is nice and warm. But you know, he loves us and all cats so we get away with a lot. We are careful with him as he is very big on good behaviour. He was not pleased with GC (Grandma Carrie) earlier as she tried to sneak out the door and he ran after her and they got into it quite loudly. This of course, brought HM onto the scene as she does not like the loud noise and neither do I. GC is very belligerent and if you don’t know what that big word means, well it means that GC doesn’t like being told off and thinks she can do anything she wants. I guess when you are nearly 18 cat years of age (162 human years) you can hiss at who you want to, which she does but it is probably not wise to hiss at HD. Oh well they are friends again. HD is at work and GC is sound asleep. Let us hope that ShooShoo leaves her alone. My sister is rather fond of returning hisses at her. HD says my sister is eating too much as she is getting large. This is quite true. I keep my slim line figure by watching what I eat but I am cute and I like the way I am. HM just told me that I am ‘full of it tonight’. I am staring her out for that comment, so she just poked her tongue out at me. That’s not fair- well I don’t think so anyway. We truly like each other and I like to follow her around when she does the housekeeping and keep her company when she is writing. She told me that it may be that we wont shift to the northern prairies. I think she is sad about this but things change and it all depends on HD’s work. It may be that we will go back to California, to Los Angeles. I don’t know this place very well but HM likes it well enough and as long as she is there then that’s fine with me. We shall see.

Each week I am going to include a picture of one of my family. I thought this would be fun. This week it is a picture of GAD (great aunt Daisy) – she plays with us and HM calls her a lovable giant. She is a big cat and has been lonely since she lost her mate couple of years ago. It took her a long time to get over losing our Percy cat. We all miss him very much.

Well it is time to go. A lot of meow’s to you out there. Until next time.

Miss Ginny.

Miss Ginny's Diary Feb 11th 2010

Meow - it’s me, Miss Ginny. Well it has been quite a day here. I got into it with HD. I was cleaning myself and I had my back right leg stuck up in the air and he and HM said I looked a little odd and I didn’t like it. So, when HD was going off to work, he came over and gave me a smooch before he went, I objected and I hissed him and they both laughed. HM said she had never seen me do that before and she is right. The only hiss I give out is to my sister ShooShoo when she gets ‘up my nose’ because I think she is silly sometimes. HM said she was quite surprised at me and she also said that she thought I was being a bit prissy on the one hand but on the other hand I had the right to be upset if I chose. I really like HM and HD and we don’t have disagreements as a rule. He often lets me sit on his chest at night while he is reading. So all is well and the afternoon is quiet. HM did a little packing of clothes today – in readiness for our move to the northern prairies. She has not been very well lately with allergies and none of us have been getting a lot of sleep because the sirens have been noisy at night. I get allergies and so does Grandma Carrie. I have included a picture of GC – it was taken when she was having her afternoon sleep. HM says that GC is now 157.5 human years and that is about 17 ½ years in cat time. When she gets the sneezes she almost falls over. We all keep a close eye on her. ShooShoo gets me mad because she teases GC and HM tells GC to turn and give her a hiss or two but I guess GC is getting too old to be bothered. We have had a lot of rain lately which is quite unusual in the desert south west where we are. I like to sit in the window and watch it. Today is nice as the afternoon sun is coming in the window and warming the apartment in a nice way. I don’t like thunderstorms and my sister and I rush under the big bed when they come. HM doesn’t care very much for the thunder either. She told me that we will have to get used to a lot of snow where we are moving to. I haven’t seen a lot of snow. Where I was born rarely got snow and where we live now is a place that also, rarely gets snow. HM said she will get me a window bed so I can lay in it and watch the snow from a warm house. These beds are great because you hook them on to a window ledge and they are like a hammock that people use. This will be great. I have just eaten an early supper – it was nice meat. I don’t know why HM bothers to straighten the carpet covers because GAD is going to come along and roll on them and she always ends up causing a big untidy mess. She does this when she wakes up from her afternoon sleep. She and ShooShoo often roll in them. HM chases them and it ends up being noisy and a little crazy. I am sitting next to HM and she is working away on her columns. She is getting better I think and she just said to me that she will be glad when we move because the waiting is both boring and there is always a lot to do and she likes to get going. HD doesn’t care much for moving but he said that we will be better off and we will have a bigger place to live in and we will be able to have our own sofa. I like sofa’s in the same way I like window beds. We are lucky because we have lots of blankets and toys to put on the sofa and besides, they are nice to curl up and sleep on. Well I might go and have a sleep (another one!) – what a cool life.

I will talk to you again soon. Meow to you my friends from Miss Ginny.

Miss Ginny's Diary Feb 4th 2010

Hello there and meow to you from me, Miss Ginny. Well it has been a funny day today. I have decided that HM and HD are quite mad. My sister ShooShoo is also mad. These three have been playing silly faces. ShooShoo likes to talk and when she wakes up and HM always talks to her and makes a return face – in other words if ShooShoo yawns then HM yawns and HD often does to. Then usually my sister gets down and comes over to them and starts a ruckus and a rumble and a mad game is on. Right now I am the only one up and about and everyone else is sleeping. HD is at work and HM is writing. The other thing HM does, is that she pulls kissy faces at me and I just love her but she is crazy sometimes. She says we wake her up to much at night but this is not always my fault. It is usually ShooShoo – she is our burglar alarm and if she hears something at night or if she goes to the bathroom to use our kitty litter box, then she just has to tell us all about it and how good she is because she has been to use the litter box or she wants to tell us that the street cleaning machine has gone past. I have told you before that she hates the street cleaner – poor man. I love my sister but she is also crazy. I do feel sorry for HM because ShooShoo just keeps on and on until HM responds. HM can do this without opening her eyes always, she just tells my sister ‘I hear you ShooShoo – good girl’. HM asked us the other day why we always follow her to the bathroom when she needs to use it. I don’t know why. It’s just that we have always done this wherever we have lived, since we were tiny kittens. I guess we always will. HM says we are both nuts. So everyone in this happy family of ours is nuts and crazy. Fun isn’t it?! Oh here comes Grandma Carrie on the bed. She has been looking to see what is left from our soft food. We get soft food at night and we have plenty of cat biscuits to eat during the day if we want to. We have about 7 weeks left before we move. HM will be pleased. She doesn’t like it where we are and feels that we will all keep better health in the clear cool air of the northern prairies. We have had lots of talks about all the different animals that will be in our new place. At least it will not be so hot in the summer. We live inside and in air conditioning but we may not need air-conditioning where we are going. HM likes the fresh breezes of spring and summer. Where we lived before we all came to America was nice and fresh and not too hot.

Hi there – this is HM. Ginny just curled herself up and went to sleep here on the bed. You can see that she thinks we are all nuts and crazy. Well, we do have those days when everyone feels like having a little fun. Miss Ginny is such a dear little cat. She cares a lot about us and she is quite bossy. She doesn’t like a lot of noise and for some reason she always comes across and stares at us when we laugh. I don’t know why this is but when people laugh she gets quite talkative. Maybe the noise affects her ears. What do you think? I don’t think Miss Ginny and ShooShoo will ever stop following me into the bathroom. You know, even if I go to the bathroom when they are both asleep, then you can bet your life, that they will be their in a flash, scratching at the door to come in. Oh well, it is harmless I guess.

I will say goodbye on behalf of Ginny – she looks so cute.

She will talk to you again soon, bye from her and me, HM.

Oh yes, here is a picture of ShooShoo asleep.

Miss Ginny's Diary Jan 28th 2010

Meow to you. I haven’t written anything for a while. I am just being lazy. Right now it is a rainy day here in the desert south west and I am in a small cane laundry basket. We were given this and I laid a claim to it. HM put in a nice blanket in it and it is great to curl up in on a day when you can’t do much. I am watching Grandma Carrie trying to talk HM into getting an early supper for us. I don’t think GC is going to succeed. However I admire her because any minute now she is going to get the boot from where she is. She is actually in between HM and her laptop and HM is peering over the top of her. GC gets away with a lot because she is way old and has, as I said a while back, been with HM for about 17 years. I thought we might be in our new place by now but HM and HD both say that it is too cold for us to travel right now and we will go in the early spring hopefully. I like to follow HM around when she is looking through our stuff and I like to see what she is throwing out. She told me yesterday that she is not throwing anything of ours out. She said she is going to pack our toys into the cane washing basket and that will be ok with me. She told me that I am getting bossy. In fact HD called me a Field Marshal – that is a military title. Field Marshal von Ginny was what he actually called me. So I bit his finger – I was only playing. I just love to cuddle on his chest. He squints his eyes at me so I squint right back at him. HM says we are like two children being pesky. What is pesky? HM says it is being a tad silly. Well I don’t care and HM says they love me no matter what so that’s just fine. Well GC is now sitting as close as she can to HM who is trying to catch up with her columns. Great Aunt Daisy is sleeping on her back with her front legs crossed – it looks a little odd. My sister and I had a great play this morning. We chased each other around the room and through the closet and over and under everything. HM said we were nuts – it seems that it is a day for being nuts. Well what’s a cat to do but eat and sleep and play on a rainy day? ShooShoo has gone to see what HM is doing and this is not going to work because GC is on the table and as they don’t care for each other much I think HM may just get up and move to go and get our supper. Good move on ShooShoo’s part. Yeah! HM has moved. Cool, here comes supper. I will talk to you later. Oh, I have included a photo of me and my sister, ShooShoo when we were playing.

Meow to you for now, Miss Ginny.

Miss Ginny's Diary Jan 17th 2010

Meow to you. It’s me, Miss Ginny. How are you today? It has been a lazy day for us. HM says we are all slacking off which means we are mostly asleep. I have included a picture of me sleeping that HM took earlier today. I think we slept so much because it was quite a warm winter’s day and the sun was shining and we had lots of food to eat and all was well. HD rang in to see how we are and he is bringing us home some kitty treats – he does this every now and then. I love these – they are crunchy and the name of them is Friskies Natural Sensations. We have the ones made with chicken. HM gets yoghurt which she does not let us eat because she gets one with fruit in it. Today I watched HM pack some china bowls and I supervised her. She calls me her ‘kitchen boss’ because I like to watch what she is doing. My sister and Grandma Carrie were spitting at each other today so they were both sent to the opposite ends of the living room. ShooShoo was just being a pain! Well it is the next day now and the maintenance man came to fix our door. We needed a new key plus lock and as he had to cut into the iron door the noise was awful so HM put us all in the bathroom and then closed the door so the noise was less of a problem for our ears. We all behaved quite well I think. ShooShoo hid behind the toilet and I jumped in the bath and Grandma Carrie sat on top of the toilet and ShooShoo did not annoy her at all. GAD just sat in the middle of the bathroom wondering why we were all there. God Bless her, she lives in her own world. My mum Lapper, jumped on the bench and sat there. It took a while to finish – about 45 minutes. HM gave us a nice supper of turkey and gravy. So now it is early in the evening and we are all settled and HM is working on her writing. Because of the door being fixed we did not get any packing done today. HD got called into work early and I am hoping he might bring home some more treats. He spoils us. HM just said to me that I had treats yesterday so not to expect any today. Well I shall live in hope. HM is shaking her head at me and says I am a spoilt little princess that she really loves and knowing HD there will be something in his jacket pocket for us. ShooShoo has just come to join me and HM wants to know what she is talking about. It’s a big story. I wish she wouldn’t try to wash me. I hate having my ears washed. HM just told me not to fuss because ShooShoo has been doing this since we were very young and just to let it be. I am staring HM out. She just looked at me and shook her head. I like to curl up with HM and I am watching her so I can go and curl up with her when she has finished the column she is working on. Both HM and HD do a lot of writing. HD has already written nearly 5000 words this week and HM told him to take a rest. Well, it is the next day now and HM is not well and so I am keeping an eye on her. She says she is going to bed soon – it is about 6pm and HD will be home later from his work and he will cheer her up. I will cuddle up with her when she gets into bed in a moment – she calls me her little furry best friend. HM is frowning. She is watching the television on CNN (I’m not sure what that is). She was talking earlier to HD about some big problems in another country. HM looks very upset. She is frowning. Well looks like she is getting into bed so I will talk to you later.

Be well and many meows to you from me, Miss Ginny.

Miss Ginny's Diary Jan 10th 2010

Meow to you out there, it’s me, Miss Ginny. It is early in the evening in our household. HD is at work and we have had our supper. My sister ShooShoo got into real trouble (again!). Grandma Carrie had just finished eating her supper and my sister chased her out of the kitchen and into the bedroom. Grandma is very old and while she is in good health, she is somewhat fragile and walks as she wants. ShooShoo doesn’t like Grandma Carrie and never really has. So HM did her bun! (as the English folk say) and she and my sister had a very long talk. ShooShoo is lucky HD wasn’t home. He truly loves ShooShoo and gets very upset with her when she is naughty. He would have sent her to her bed for a while. HM told her she is on a warning to behave or she will be sent to bed early. The interesting thing about all this is that ShooShoo seems to understand what HM says and she is behaving and has joined me on the big bed. We have been thinking about all the animals that live in the areas that are so very cold right now. I have told you that we are going to live in a much colder climate than where we are now. Did you see the zoo animals on television who are trying to cope with the cold in the state of Florida (USA) and in Europe? HM said that they used to have a cat in Canada, a long time ago and he used to like to eat the snow. I don’t think I would like that. HM says that we will have to get used to some very different animals and birds in our new home, than what we see at our current home. She said that you get an animal called a squirrel in our new town and they are busy little animals and move quickly and in the fall they gather lots of nuts and bread crusts to store in trees and other places, so that they have food to eat when it is very cold. She said that they used to have a red squirrel in Canada that would always come along the fence when they were having breakfast and sit and wait for the crusts from the breakfast toast. My cat mother, Lapper loves toast crusts and sometimes but not often, HM gives her a little one. Well it is the next day now and again it is early in the evening. It is cold today and HM once again has gotten into bed early and we have all joined her. HD is at work and he calls during his shift and likes to know what we are doing and how we all are. He is a nice person and brings us treats. HM calls him the ‘cat whisperer’. My sister likes to go to the phone when he calls in as she likes to hear his voice. We have heard a lot of sirens in our city today. None of us like to hear them. ShooShoo always cries and HM more often than not has to pick her up and give her a cuddle. She especially hates the fire engines. We are near the corner of a street and the man driving the fire engine often has to put the siren on high volume to get people to move out of the way on the crossing and to get cars to go to the left to let the engine pass. It is this high volume noise that ShooShoo doesn’t care for. HM has gotten up to go and get herself something to eat and I might get up and go with her to see if there will be any treats put out. So, I will talk to you tomorrow and in the meantime keep warm and safe.

Meow to you from me, Ginny and HM says hello.

Miss Ginny's Diary Jan 7th 2010

Hello there – meow to you, it’s me Miss Ginny. Its late afternoon here and in the south west we have had nice sun today and HM says enjoy it and have some sympathy for the larger part of our great country that is suffering through a giant deep freeze. My sister and I are nice and warm because we are tucked up in bed with HM as she has gone to bed early and we have sorted out a spot on the big bed and there we will probably stay until the morning alarm clock goes off. Here comes Grandma Carrie doing the same thing. I like to sit and think about things when I get into bed after the day has finished. HM has been putting things in boxes. She said that we can’t travel anywhere at the moment because it is still way to cold for us to travel. She takes great care about these things. She said she is going to make coats for us out of nice fleece. I want a pink coat! We each have our own travel blankets and I always travel in the same cage as my sister because we fit easily into one as we are small cats. Grandma Carrie is up and moving about. ShooShoo got into trouble yesterday for chasing after her. HD was home and he and my sister often argue about things. She hisses at him if she doesn’t like what he says to her and then she will give him one of her ‘stare outs’ that she is known for. HM gets cross with my sister when she does this. She says that she didn’t raise her to have bad manners. HM sometimes calls my sister ‘Miss Botswana’ as she has the face of a lioness – her coloring is about the same as a lioness around her face. Botswana is a country in Africa that has lots of interesting animals living there. HM is frowning as she is looking at the bad weather in the east. Lots and lots of snow and very cold days and nights. HM’s aunty who lives in Indiana has snow up to the second story of her farmhouse. HM checked to see that she is okay and she said she is fine and the oil heaters are working okay and she has plenty of food. HM says that the cars that are out in this bad weather, are driving way too fast on icy roads. HM says that you must eat and drink well in this very cold weather because by doing this you will give your body fuel and energy to cope. HM is making herself some drop egg noodle soup with chicken for her supper and she had put garlic in it. I hate the smell of garlic and she said I didn’t have to sit there twitching my nose as I wasn’t going to get any. (Cats cannot eat garlic as it is quite bad for them like chocolate.) We are all up as Grandma Carrie took a wander into the kitchen to see what she could find. There is still some of our soft food left if we want nibbles of something. When Grandma does a wander round we all do to see if she gets any extra treats. HM says that as she has managed to live to the same amount of years as a 155 year old human she deserves treats from time to time. We usually get the treats to. Golly me! GAD just did a huge sneeze. HM told her she shook the building. She is a big big cat and does giant sneezes. HM has finished making her soup. Thank goodness! I hope she eats the garlic first. She says that garlic is very good for humans in the colder months as it helps them keep good health and puts good vitamins in their systems. Wow – a red car on the TV just skidded in a full circle on an icy road as it was going round a corner. HM said ‘scary’. Well we are all back in bed again and I might go to sleep until HD comes home from his work. He just might come in with treats – yeah!!

Keep warm out there and HM says stay safe. Meow to you from your friend, Miss Ginny (and HM too).

Good night.

Miss Ginny's Diary Dec 21st 2009

Meow to you, it’s me, Ginny. Well it is Sunday evening and HM is working away on the computer and the household is quiet for once. HD is at work and it is another cold night. We have been watching the big snow in the eastern United States and HM said it was a bad time to be traveling. We have traveled several times on planes and it has been okay. We even traveled overseas on a very big jet with other animals and it was a long journey and I slept most of the way. I was in a cage with my sister ShooShoo as we were very small at the time and the airline put us both in together. We stayed in a hotel in Los Angeles and they were very nice to us – they thought we were cute and HM told the hotel staff to stop spoiling us. I told you before, that we might be moving and we are. HD is transferring out of our desert home and we are going north to a place near the border with Canada. HM says it is going to be cold like the planet Hoth in the winter (she says that is from some film called Star Wars). She also said it is a very nice town and she and HD can go fishing in the rivers and lakes and we will get some fresh fish to eat. We will not move yet because with the winter coming on HM says it is too cold for us to travel and we need to be acclimatized in the spring. HD says it is going to be just fine. Grandma Carrie is now too old to fly and so we will be traveling by road. We have done this before to and HD and HM drive only a few hours a day and stay overnight somewhere and off we go again the next day. We traveled like this when we came out west. It was okay and we slept most of the way and were spoilt a lot. I like that. HM says that I am getting to be a little princess because people often come up to me and say ‘oh what a pretty kitten’. I am not a kitten but I am just a very small cat. I was born No. 6 in the litter of kittens and sometimes HM calls me No. 6. It was HD’s birthday yesterday. HM made him a lovely cake made with chocolate and peanut butter but we couldn’t have any because HM said animals are not allowed chocolate because it can make us very sick. GAD is having a dream and her legs and paws are twitching while she is sleeping. HM says she is probably chasing rabbits in her dreams. Did I tell you that GAD talks in her sleep? HM says she is the only cat she has ever known who does this. She can get quite loud when she is talking. I like GAD as she is willing to play. She used to watch over us when we were very tiny. ShooShoo has woken up and is talking up a storm to HM. We have already had our supper so I doubt if HM will give her more soft food. We have a bowl of cat biscuits out all the time and lots of water. ShooShoo likes to go around sniffing everything and HM says she has a complex. I think she is just being a cat. She wakes us up nearly every morning at about 4a.m. HM calls her our burglar alarm. ShooShoo just has a thing about the street cleaning machine. We won’t have one where we are going to live and HM says we might all get some sleep! The trouble with my sister is that she has to tell you about everything she has discovered or noises she hears at night and if we don’t answer her she goes and wakes HM who is really very patient with her. She sniffs HM’s face and once she actually sniffed up HM’s nostril. HM let out a waaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh in the middle of the night and that woke all of us including HD. ShooShoo has gone back to sleep on the big bed. HM is fond of her except when she is playing rough-house with GAD. We have a cousin in Ireland and her name is Callie. She is a tabby cat and belongs to HD’s sister and her family. They phoned us for HD’s birthday and we were all happy to hear from them. Ireland is a pretty place and I know that HM would just be so happy if we made Ireland our permanent home. HD says he has had enough traveling and so has HM so maybe where we are moving to will be our forever home. Who knows – HM told me that is on the northern prairies and is full of interesting history. HM and I have a great friendship. She never minds when I crawl into the big bed at night and I like to cuddle with her she calls me her pretty little princess. I have been quite good lately and not been in too much trouble. I have left the Christmas tree alone and not played with the decorations and I haven’t chased Grandma Carrie’s tail.
I am going now to find a bed for the night. See you next time.

Meow to you from Miss Ginny.
